چکیده
Unless specified otherwise, by “manifolds” and “varieties” we shall always mean, respectively, complex manifolds and complex algebraic varieties. Consequently, “dimension” (of a manifold or variety) always refers to the complex dimension. We also fix, once and for all, a commutative Noetherian ring k of finite global dimension as our ring of “coefficients”; the reader is welcome to take k = Z,Q,C,Fq, and so on. Unless specified otherwise, by “sheaves” and “complexes”, we shall always mean sheaves of k-modules and complexes of such sheaves, respectively.

متن کاملIntroduction to Staggered Sheaves
This note is an expository account of the theory of staggered sheaves, based on a series of lectures given by the author at RIMS (Kyoto) in October 2008. Perverse sheaves have become a tool of great importance in representation theory, largely because of the remarkable way in which they provide a link between geometry and algebra. A single perverse sheaf contains information reminiscent of clas...
متن کاملVanishing cycle sheaves of one-parameter smoothings
We study the vanishing cycles of a one-parameter smoothing of a complex analytic space and show that the weight filtration on its perverse cohomology sheaf of the highest degree is quite close to the monodromy filtration so that its graded pieces have a modified Lefschetz decomposition. We also describe its primitive part using the weight filtration on the perverse cohomology sheaves of the con...

متن کاملQuick and dirty introduction to perverse sheaves
In this talk, X will be a variety (separated scheme of finite type) over C, we will most often identify with its set of complex points and we will use the usual topology on X(C). Note however that you can define étale torsion or `-adic perverse sheaves on varieties over any field of characteristic 6= ` (see the book [1] of Beilinson-Bernstein-Deligne for this and most of the results of this not...
